Belinda co-founded The Pete Bates Project with Pete Bates. Her work in Queensland corrections informs her perspective on where harmful patterns can end, the systems that respond and the questions worth asking about children before offending.

The quiet adaptations

Belinda’s public work names coercive-control adaptation from the inside: the behaviour a woman changes to avoid the next accusation, withdrawal, humiliation, punishment or escalation.

She focuses on rules that may never be stated aloud, why continued responding does not prove contact is welcome, and why apparent agreement may have been shaped by the expected consequence of refusing.

She is the author of The Quiet Rules You Never Agreed To, a free guide to everyday adaptations and the pattern underneath them.

Children, systems and accountability

Belinda’s perspective connects women’s lived adaptations with the wider consequences of harmful patterns. It makes room for earlier recognition and children’s experiences without treating adversity as destiny or excusing adult harm.
